The Single Girl’s Guide to Kicking a Cold

Defend yourself against cold & flu season with these health kit must haves

Single Girl Health Kit

As much as I love Fall, there’s one bit of the season that always leaves me wary. It’s the thought that lingers in the back of my mind from November to May when the weather begins to warm again. I hope I don’t get sick. For, along with its gorgeous autumnal colors, sweater weather, and PSLs, Fall unfortunately also seems to carry-in infection.

It just so happens that this weekend, I found myself in my first fight against cold & flu season. Friday at the office, my sneezing fits seemed multiplied. Saturday, my headache seemed to build more than Friday’s glasses of wine should have called for. By Sunday morning, I awoke to a face heavy with congestion.

Luckily, previous seasons of sickness have left me prepared. My personal health-kit is fully stocked with items to help me defend myself from whatever is trying to take me down. I also know exactly what to reach for to keep me going, like my favorite juices from Pressed Juicery.

To make sure you’re prepared to face this cold & flu season, I’m sharing the items I keep in my personal health kit. Take a look and let me know what’s in yours!

The Goods

Traditional Medicinals Throat Coat Tea
With just a touch of sweetness, this tea is perfect for soothing an aching throat. I like to carry a few packets in my purse so I can whip up a cuppa on the go.

Reusable Water Bottle
I’ve found that water often serves as the best remedy there is. To remind myself to drink up, I keep a water bottle by my side at all times.

Rosebud Salve Lip Treatment
I was just introduced to this product from C.O. Bigelow and already I’m in love. It soothes my chapped lips without making me feel like I have to continuously reapply like other brands I’ve tried.

Kate Spade Dream Eye-mask
Sleep is essential for fighting off the flu. When I need to guarantee some shut-eye, I always go to bed with an eye-mask. It’s amazing how much better it helps me sleep!

Kleenex Pocket Packs
One minute you’re so congested you can’t breathe. The next your nose is running like a faucet. Know the feeling? I like to be prepared by stashing a pocket pack in each of my bags.

Pressed Juicery
I believe the best plan of attack against sickness is a combo of meds and nutrition. To the latter point, I like to get in extra vitamins by drinking my favorite immune-boosting juices.

Vicks Nature Fusion Cold and Flu Multi-Symptom Relief
As far as OTCs go, this is one of my faves. It fights fever, congestion, and coughing. Oh yeah, did I mention the caplets taste like honey? Amazing.

Simply Saline
Okay, so it’s not the most glamour of items but it works! When all you want is to breathe with ease, reach for the nasal spray.

Ricola Cough Drops
I often get made fun of for liking to keep hard candies and cough drops in my purse. Might be a little bit of the old lady in me coming through but they do make me feel better!

Emergen-C
When the first signs of sickness set in, I start my Emergen-C routine. I drink one packet every morning with breakfast to help ward-off whatever is trying to take me down.

Germ-X Hand Sanitizer
Let’s be honest, nobody wants to be near the sick girl. Unless of course, you’re polite enough to keep hand sanitizer by your side at all times. Kill the germs and keep your friends : )

Vitafusion Gummy Vitamins
I accept the fact that I’m much more likely to take my vitamins when they’re in gummy form. When I’m sick, this is one thing in my medicine cabinet I look forward to taking.
